Understanding the progress matrix

You will discover how to visualize the evolution of a team's progress.

At the time of the analysis, each team is in the process of improving and aligning its processes and collective effectiveness.

The team positioning map enables you to visualize these elements at a glance.

STEP 1 : UNDERSTANDING THE PROGRESS MATRIX

When you open the platform, you will have direct access to your team's progress matrix.

By positioning your mouse on the point representing the team on the matrix, you will obtain more precise information:

The x-axis runs from 0 to 12 and represents the number of aligned work processes.

The y-axis is the average of the 4 components of a team's effectiveness, represented from 0 to 10.

This matrix shows the current dynamic of your team.

There are four team positioning zones:

“Optimal" team dynamics: The team surpasses its objectives sustainably by innovating. The collective dynamic limits frustrations and generates a very high level of peace and harmony between its members.
“Exploratory" team dynamics: The team has an optimal effectiveness, but its way of working is misaligned, reflecting a desire to explore new ways of working.
“Functional" team dynamics: The collective dynamic works well, but with a random level of effectiveness. Goals are achieved with great effort and frustration on a daily basis.
“Dysfunctional" team dynamics: The collective dynamic produces repeated tensions. Freedom of speech is limited and frustrations are omnipresent. The leader is individually over-solicited by his members.

STEP 2: UNDERSTANDING THE CALCULATION OF AVERAGE EFFECTIVENESS AND THE NUMBER OF PROCESSES IN ALIGNMENT

You will need to switch your view to "OpenDecide" for the team effectiveness.

First of all, there is the number of aligned processes (out of the 12 that exists, referring to the red exclamation marks on the platform).

In the example below: 6 processes aligned (out of a total of 12).

The abscissa is the average of the 4 effectiveness components.
In the example below: (7.6 + 7.9 + 7.4 + 7.5) / 4 = 7.6

In the previous example, the team is at 6 on the x-axis and 7.6 on the y-axis, giving the following positioning:

STEP 3: SEE THE EVOLUTION OVER TIME

The matrix is a document that is always visible on the platform and available on the presentation support, allowing you to visualize the evolution of a team's effectiveness and alignment over time.
Below is an example of all the teams in a department within the same organization. On average, the teams had between 5 and 6 aligned processes and an average efficiency of 7.4.
Six months later, the average work process alignment had increased by one more aligned process and by 0.5 additional points on the average efficiency.
We can therefore see that the teams are slowly but surely approaching optimal efficiency dynamics.
